STANDARDIZING PALLIATIVE CARE FOR GHANA
GOALS
Palliative Care, Ghana is a
Not-for-profit Non Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in August 2005 in
Ghana.
The mission of Palliative
care, Ghana is to ensure a sustainable quality palliative and Hospice care
practice in Ghana.
The specific objectives of
PCG are to:
- Develop standards, guideline and protocols for the practice of Palliative Care.
- Build capacity in palliative care through training of primary care givers and support professional development in palliative care.
- Provide technical and other practical support for individuals and institutions engaged in or intending to offer hospice care.
- Lead in palliative care advocacy.
- Document best practices and experiences in palliative care - i.e. the research aspect.
- Engage in Palliative care and related research in Ghana.
ADVOCACY FOR HOME BASE PALLIATIVE CARE
With the improved well-being
of Ghana society coupled with better health care delivery, the terminally ill
as well as bedridden patients have increased in our communities.
Advocacy is the effort to influence the right change in
care of the terminally ill through various forms of Associations.
